Metronidazole is an amoebicide , antiprotozoal , antibacterial and antiprasitic medication used to treat various conditions such as inflammatory bowel disease , non specific diarrheal disorders , infections caused by GIARDIA ( Intestinal  parasites ) and periodontal disease ( Infections in the mouth).

Anaerobes : 15mg per kg every 12 hours for 8 days.

Giardia : 12 to 15 mg per kg every 12 hours for 8 days.

The duration of administration depends on the condition being treated , response to the medication and the development of any adverse effects.
