Each uncoated tablet contains:
Torsemide USP…………….. 6 mg
Excipients………………… q.s.
- Treatment of edema associated with congestive heart failure, pulmonary congestion, ascites, kidney or liver disease, and non-inflammatory fluid accumulation.
- Indicated for the treatment of abnormalities in fluid volume and electrolyte composition.
- Reduction of peripheral or pulmonary edema caused by heart, vascular or kidney diseases.
The veterinary medicinal product can be administered with or without food.
The recommended dose of Torsemide is 0.1 – 0.6 mg per kg of body weight, once daily. Most dogs are stabilized at a Torsemide dose equal to or less than 0.3 mg per kg of body weight, once daily.
That is, 1 tablet every 20 kg per day.
The dose can be increased or decreased as directed by the veterinarian.
The dose should be adjusted to maintain the dog’s comfort with attention to the state of kidney function and electrolyte level. If the level of diuresis is requires modification, the dose can be increased or decreased, within the dose range, in increments of 0.1 mg/kg of body weight.
Once the signs of congestive heart failure have been controlled and the dog is stable, if long-term diuretic treatment with this drug is required, the lowest effective dose should be continued.
A frequent examination of the dog will facilitate the establishment of an appropriate diuretic dose. The daily administration schedule can be programmed, to control the period of urination according to need.
